Register here: https://wpi.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6LjewAjhJupbybH The STEM Education Center at WPI is pleased to host the PreK – Grey STEM Educator Dialogue Series that brings together PreK-12 educators and university faculty members around a common theme of relevant topics to engage and inspire the next generation of STEM-minded individuals. These dialogues start with a WPI faculty presenting their groundbreaking research and/or teaching methods for preparing the next generation of STEM professionals. A PreK-12 educator will then present engaging classroom activities addressing a similar topic and/or teaching method that can be applicable to multiple grade levels. This year's kickoff presentation is led by Dr. Izabela Stroe and Dr. Rudra Kafle of WPI's Physics Department and Becky Ide, a Physics and Engineering teacher at Nipmuc Regional High School. Professors Stroe and Kafle will discuss how they incorporate hands-on learning into their undergraduate introductory physics courses to engage and deepen students’ critical thinking. Becky Ide will then present a cross-disciplinary project in which her students designed experiments that would take place in a box at 28,000 ft. above central Massachusetts carried by a weather balloon. Please join us for a time of networking with colleagues, engaging in intellectual thought, learning new content, and sharing ideas. Refreshments will be provided.
