Mathematics in Industry Institute for Teachers
2005 Summer Workshop
As part of the Mathematics in Industry Institute for Teachers, a summer Workshop will be organized at WPI on July 11-15, 2005.
During the workshop 50 teachers will work with faculty, industrial mathematicians and undergraduates on finding the best ways to use real-world problems to motivate students and in particular women and underrepresented minorities to pursue careers in mathematics, engineering, information technology or finance/economics.
Application
There is no fee for the workshop. A $500 stipend is provided to the workshop participants.

Housing
There are two options for housing. Please indicate your choice on the application form.
- dormitory housing at WPI (double occupancy) at no charge to the
participants.
Rooms include towels, bedding (sheets, pillows, etc.), but these rooms are not air-conditioned.
- the Courtyard Marriott
which is about 10-15 minutes walk to the campus (air conditioning, cable TV,
etc.)
Dorm rooms are reserved in Institute Hall (building G on the campus map). On Sunday afternoon, the keys can be found at the registration desk in Institute Hall between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. For those arriving later, the keys will be available at the Campus Police, located at 35 Dean Street (building 7 on the campus map).

The workshop schedule is here.
Every day starts with continental breakfast in the Campus Center lobby at 8:00am. THe talks begin at 9:00am in Olin Hall (except for Tuesday, when the talks are in Salisbury Hall). The teams break-out sessions will be in Daniels Hall (building A on the campus map) in the Project-based Learning Community rooms.
