She left a daughter and two sons. The most fitting memorial to her that the Association could have devised was the establishment of a fund to provide for the education of these children. Such an act was proposed by Arthur C. Comins, '93, at the 1916 meeting. This fund was established as the Fannie Day Butterfield fund the following year. The numerous contributions that were made to it were separately invested and placed in charge of Mr. Bartlett and the Alumni Association president, as trustees until such time as Professor Butterfield might need to draw upon it.
