Scientific/Engineering Software Applications Introduction to CES EduPack (Customized)

CES EduPack is a world-leading teaching resource for materials in engineering, science, processing, and design, developed by Professor Mike Ashby at the University of Cambridge. It is centered on innovative software and databases, supported by textbooks and other teaching materials. CES Edu contains 4 linked data-tables: materials, processes for shaping, joining and finishing materials, references and supplier information for materials or processes. The software offers tools to apply this information in selecting materials and processes to meet complex design requirements and helps students to explore and learn the underlying science. The software has 3 levels, allowing a progression from simple selection using a small number of materials, to advanced selection using very large databases of material and process attributes. The advanced level contains over 2900 materials and 233 processes. The seminar includes demonstrations on how to retrieve information about a material or process and how to select materials to meet given requirements on their properties and constraints of processing. Instructor: Adriana Hera(ahera@wpi.edu)

This course is intended for: Administrators, Alumni, Faculty, Graduate Students, Staff, Undergraduate Students
