to London to call on Professor Tyndall and to inspect English schools. He spent some time at the Ecole Centrale in Paris and at the color school at Lyons before going to Dresden, where he was to make his headquarters. He had letters from leading American educators to German professors, and was cordially received at Vienna, Chemnitz, Carlsruhe and Zurich. He wrote with enthusiasm about his discoveries, and added, I " my faith in the feasibility of our scheme grows daily. The school can be carried out. No plans of any school here can be imitated, but the ideas at the bottom of these schools can be Americanized and so carried into practice."
